Eagles challenge Blu-Jays

PLEASANTON — Uniontown gave Pleasanton a challenge in the second half here Friday night but the homestanding Blu-Jays were able to prevail and clinch the Three Rivers League 11-man football championship with a 26-20 victory. This was also the opening round of Class 1A-District 1 play.

Pleasanton (1-0 district, 4-0 TRL, 6-0 overall) led 20-0 at the half. The Eagles (0-1, 1-3, 1-5) managed to tie the score eight seconds into the fourth quarter.

Andrew Reed rushed for 74 yards, caught 23 yards in passes and tied in high for tackles with 11. He also returned an interception 94 yards for a score.

Ty Davidson passed for 39 yards and led Uniontown in rushing with 176 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Hayden Miller had 11 tackles and 60 yards rushing.

Uniontown plays at Yates Center in league and district play next Friday.
