’Hounds take No. 5 Highland to limit

HIGHLAND — Fort Scott Community College’s volleyball team took Highland, ranked No. 5 in NJCAA Division II, to five sets here Wednesday night in Jayhawk Conference play before falling 20-25, 25-18, 25-12, 22-25, 15-7.

The Greyhounds (1-4 conference, 9-7 overall) are tied for eighth place in the Eastern Division with Labette while Highland improved to 4-1, 20-2.

No statistics were available for the Greyhounds.

Fort Scott is playing at the Johnson County Volleyball Challenge this weekend. Friday, the ’Hounds took on Iowa Western, ranked No. 3 in Division I, and Central-Columbus. This morning, they face North Platte and No. 18 Des Moines Area.

Wednesday night, Fort Scott will be at home for a conference match versus Johnson County, one of the division’s co-leaders along with Cowley and Coffeyville. The Cavaliers are currently ranked No. 1 in NJCAA Division II. It will also be Fort Scott’s Dig Pink night.
