Greyhounds lose just one set over weekend

Fort Scott Community College’s volleyball team lost just one set in four matches over the weekend as they hosted the Fort Scott Tournament at Arnold Arena.
On Friday, the Greyhounds defeated the Ottawa University junior varsity, 25-16, 21-25, 25-17, 25-13. Returning sophomore Hana Ronnebaum recorded 11 kills for the Greyhounds while classmate Mykah Wingerter had 10. Freshman Sophie Mader handed out 42 assists. Sophomore Emily Jackson and freshman Laney Ward had 11 digs each while Ronnebaum had 10. Brittany Barnekoff, another returning sophomore, was credited with 5 solo blocks.
Also on Friday, the Greyhounds swept Labette, 25-20, 25-13, 25-15. Wingerter had 12 kills, Mader 34 assists and Jackson 11 digs for Fort Scott.
Saturday’s opening match saw the ’Hounds sweep Allen, 25-6, 25-12, 25-23. Barnekoff led in kills with 8 followed by Ronnebaum with 7. Mader dished 27 assists. Jackson and Ronnebaum each had 11 digs.
In their second match on Saturday, the Greyhounds again swept Labette, 25-21, 25-12, 25-16. Wingerter and freshman Carly Spencer had 8 kills each. Mader finished with 35 assists. Abbie Casper, a freshman from Pittsburg, came up with 14 digs while Ward had 11. Barnekoff has 3 solo blocks and 4 assisted blocks.
Wingerter and Mader were named to the All-Tournament team.
Wednesday night at Arnold Arena, the Greyhounds open Jayhawk Conference-Eastern Division play with a 6:30 match against No. 4 Cowley. The Tigers are 2-1 after beating Longview on Friday and No. 1 Coffeyville in a non-conference match on Saturday at a special event in Wichita.
