Candidates speak at forum ahead of Primary

The public had the opportunity Tuesday evening to hear from candidates for the U.S. House of Representative District 2, state candidates and those running for county offices during the Candidates’ Forum sponsored by the Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce.

The forum was held in advance of Tuesday’s Primary election.

Moderator Tim McKinney of KOMB radio, asked three questions of each candidate and Mark McCoy, chamber member, served as the timer.

Kansas 2nd Congressional District

House of Representatives

The U.S. House of Representative District 2 seat is being vacated by Lynn Jenkins, who has chosen to not run for reelection.

Attending the forum were Republican candidates Kevin Jones, Vernon J. Fields, Steve Watkins, Doug Mays, Caryn Tyson, and Steve Fitzgerald.

Republican candidate Dennis Pyle was represented by Caleb Reed. Democratic candidate Paul Davis also did not attend.
