IFYR: Pollmeier finishes sixth in bull riding

SHAWNEE, Okla. — Fort Scott’s Coy Pollmeier finished sixth in bull riding at the International Youth Finals Rodeo here even though he did not score on Friday’s Long Go.

Pollmeier’s average was 112.0 points. He had scores of 75.0 points and 37.0 points in his two Short Gos and was the only rider who scored in both.

Only four competitors scored in Friday night’s final. Mason Taylor of Maypearl, Texas, was first with a score of 81.5 points followed by Donovan Rutherford of Mount Isa, Ohio, with an 80.5, Cannon Cravens of Talequah, Okla., with a 79.5 and Dusty Craig of Purdy, Mo., with a 76.0.

In final standings, Taylor’s average was 163.0 followed by Rutherford with 157.0, Cravens with 156.0, Ty Dodson of Crossett, Ark., 147.5, Craig at 144.5, then Pollmeier. Dawson Gleaves of Amarillo, Texas., was a distant seventh with 80.0 points.

Five other locals — Trey Houston, Miranda Arndt, Jaci Traul, and Hannah Hughes — also competed here but none were able to advance to the Long Go.

Many of these competitors are also attending the National High School Finals Rodeo in Rock Springs, Wyo., this week.
