More than 600 bicyclists and their supporters from across Kansas and the U.S. completed the 558-mile Bike Across America tour of Kansas at the Fort Scott National Historic Site Saturday. The eight-day ride began June 8 near Johnson City. This is the second time the ride is known to have ended in Fort Scott. The route varies each year, but takes participants across the state along paved roads. The first ride was held in 1975.

Fort Scottians rang cowbells and cheered the riders Saturday morning as they rolled into the fort where they took part in a catered picnic on the fort grounds.
