The hot weather Monday did not deter the crowd from attending the Memorial Day Services at the U.S. National Cemetery. The crowd spread out among the available shade to as the annual service, under the auspice of the American Legion Post 25, featured history and special speaker Daryl Roller, docent of the National World War I Memorial in Kansas City. Assisting at the service was the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1165, which organized placing flags along East National Avenue and inside the cemetery. The VFW also provided the color guard.
