USD 234 pays final bill for bond projects

Tuesday, April 17, 2018

The USD 234 Board of Education on April 9 approved payment for the remainder of work to be completed as part of the district’s $40.8 million school bond projects.

Robby Manthei, project manager for Nabholz Construction Services, was present for the meeting to update the board on completion of several items on a punch list related to the bond projects.

Nabholz is the construction manager for the bond projects and has handled bidding for projects as well as completed some work. The bond projects, which began in 2015, included several upgrades related to safety, security, energy and technology.

The district has recently been overseeing completion of work, including the punch list items. In March, Patrick Wood, a local contractor, appeared before the board with concerns about work not being done and inspection of the projects.

Superintendent Bob Beckham said in March about $275,000 remained to be paid to Nabholz for bond project work. At their March meeting, board members approved payment of $137,710 to Nabholz, about half of the balance, with the intent to pay the other half upon completion of the remaining items on the list. The board also agreed to take another look at the punch list.
