The first real snow
The Marmaton River at the Riverfront Park is surrounded by snowy banks Monday, as a second round of snow fell early that morning. Bourbon Countians began their day Sunday with snow falling in the first measurable amount of the year. An estimated 2 inches fell within a 24-hour period. The second batch was preceded by icy rain. The weather forced the cancellation of a Martin Luther King Jr. Day Lunch and Learn at the Gordon Parks Museum. Museum Director Jill Warford said the event will be rescheduled. Due to slick road conditions, schools were cancelled Tuesday. Bourbon County Public Works Director Jim Harris said crews were on the roads at 3:30 a.m. Monday after having laid a brine mixture on roads Sunday. His crew was still responding to calls of slick areas on Tuesday.
