Preparing for the worst
Friday, January 12, 2018

A city of Fort Scott truck lays salt on Horton Street near Jayhawk Road Thursday morning in preparation for wintry precipitation that was expected to move into the area. Temperatures dropped below freezing Thursday, making roads slick in some spots, but as far as precipitation, the city only received brief rain and snow flurries.
Today’s high is expected to be near 24, but with a north wind, it will feel more like zero. The temperature will dip to the lower teens overnight, but there will be a warm up Sunday, with an expected high in the mid 30s.
