Middle school wrestling season is underway

After finding success as a pilot program last year, the Fort Scott Middle School wrestling program began its second season under Alvin Metcalf on Thursday, Nov. 9 with a triangular against Parsons and Pittsburg at Pittsburg. The Tigers also took part in a tournament at Pittsburg last Saturday.

There are 32 out for the team this season, five of whom have previous wrestling experience.

“We are looking for improvement from our kids and we are pleased with the improvement we have seen this far,” Metcalf, who is also the head coach of the high-school program, said. “We will continue working to improve our positioning and knowledge of wrestling.”
