Jayhawks roll by Vikings; Erie visits Friday night

MOUND CITY — Jayhawk-Linn dominated play here Friday night as the home-standing Jayhawks defeated Northeast, 44-8, in a game that counted in both Three Rivers League-Upper Division and Class 3A District 6 play.

The Vikings’ only score came in the third quarter on a pass from Karter Dugan to Arin Katzer from 30 yards out. Dugan, who also scored the 2-point conversion, completed 4 of 12 passes for 53 yards. Kadin Dugan caught 2 of them for 17 yards.

Thomas Cronister led the Vikings in rushing with 46 yards on 13 carries.

Northeast fell to 0-1 in the district and concluded league play 0-4. Overall, the Vikings are 0-7 and have lost 19 consecutive games.

The Vikings can still work their way back into contention for one of the two playoff spots out of the district Friday night as they head to Erie for a district contest. The Red Devils are 0-1 in the district and 1-6 overall.
