Baxter Springs rolls by Northeast

BAXTER SPRINGS —Northeast scored first here Friday night. But then Baxter Springs scored the next 41 points and went on to a 71-12 win in in-league play.
Arin Katzer hauled in a 12-yard pass from Karter Dugan to give the Vikings (0-6) a 6-0 lead in the first quarter. Baxter Springs (4-2) scored on a 58-yard run by Austin Hendrix and kicked the extra point to go ahead 7-6.
In the second quarter, the Lions outscored the Vikings 55-6. Dugan scored on a quarterback keeper for Northeast during the quarter.
The Vikings play a game that is not only its Class 3A-District 6 opener but also the finale for Three Rivers League-11 man play for this season when they travel to Mound City to take on Jayhawk-Linn (5-1) Friday night.
