Eagles rally for win over Maranatha
UNIONTOWN — Uniontown scored 20 unanswered points in the third quarter here Friday night to rally for a 34-26 victory over Shawnee Maranatha Academy.
Maranatha (1-5) led 26-14 at the half. But Eagle quarterback Ty Davidson scored on a 1-yard run a bit more than six minutes into the second half on a one-yard run to cut the deficit to 6 points.
Andrew Reed, who rushed for 215 yards and three scores, got his second one with 4:20 on the clock on a 3-yard run, tying the score at 26-26. Hayden Miller scored the go-ahead 2-point conversion.
Reed also added the insurance score on a 58-yard punt return with 50 seconds to go.
The Eagles (3-3) gained all of their 343 yards in offense on the ground. Maranatha rushed for 110 and threw for 278.
Nick Hathaway led the Uniontown defense with 11 tackles. Davidson intercepted two passes while Miller and Gavin Fry each picked off one.
The Eagles open Class 2-1A District 4 play Friday at Oswego. This is also a Three Rivers League-11 Man Division game.
