Varsity cross-country girls remain unbeaten
LOUISBURG — Both of Fort Scott High’s varsity girls won yet another team title at the Louisburg Invitational here Thursday.
Fort Scott’s girls, who have won every meet they’ve entered this season, scored 30 points to take the team title from Spring Hill by 20 points. Paxsten Eads led the Tigers with a second-place time of 20:58. Trinity Moore of Louisburg was the winner in 20:30.
Gabbie Clements finished fourth for the Tigers in 21:38. Macayla McClure was seventh in 22:01 and Emma Davis was 10 seconds behind in eighth. Clarissa Nivens finished 12th in 22:40 with Berkley Chavis 13th in 23:13 and Skyelar Brown 26th in 24:47.
Fort Scott’s boys finished third. Ottawa was the winner with 34 points with Spring Hill second with 77. The Tigers scored 80 points.
Gavin Smith took fourth place for the Tigers with his time of 18:05 followed by Braxton Dixon in fifth one second back. Wyatt Reece of Louisburg was the winner in 17:27.
Raymond Harper finished 11th for Fort Scott in 18:50 followed by Connor Mason in 17th in 19:19, Nick Shelton 20th in 19:22, and Connor Parker 28th in 20:17.
The Tigers saw runner take the top four spots and five of the top six in the girls’ junior varsity race. Emily Farrington was the winner in 23:33 followed by Gabriella Griffin in 24:01, Madison Jones, 24:15, and Kenzi Hardesty, 24:23. Dawna Hudiburg was sixth in 25:16. Mackenzie Ragan was 13th in 26:03 and Melonie Harper was 24th in 32:53.
Fort Scott had two entrants in the boys’ junior varsity race. Caleb Allen was 20th in 24:51 and Luke Martin was 23rd in 26:37. The winning time of 20:15 was posted by Spring Hill’s Josh Oursler.
Next Thursday, Fort Scott’s teams will compete in the Southeast Kansas League Championship Meet at the Chanute Country Club. The start time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
