Tigers split in Pittsburg

PITTSBURG — Fort Scott High’s volleyball team posted a split in a Southeast Kansas League triangular here Tuesday night. The Tigers swept Coffeyville in two sets, 25-18, 25-15, and lost to Pittsburg, 25-19, 25-15. No other details were available.

The Tigers stand at 2-6 in the SEK with both wins over Coffeyville, and 12-16 overall. Fort Scott also went 1-2 in a non-league quad at Girard Sept. 28, beating Columbus and Girard and losing to Pittsburg.

Coffeyville, which has lost 53 consecutive SEK matches, fell to 0-8, 7-18. Pittsburg, second in the SEK to Independence, is 6-2, 25-6.

The Tigers play an SEK triangular at Parsons and including Chanute on Tuesday.

Eagles split in home matches

UNIONTOWN — Uniontown split with Crest and Pleasanton in Three Rivers League play here Tuesday night. The Eagles swept Crest, 25-15, 25-23, and lost to Pleasanton, 25-18, 13-25, 27-25.

It was a long night as Yates Center was also present and five matches were played. The Uniontown-Pleasanton match started a few minutes before 10 p.m.

“It was a very long night of volleyball,” Uniontown head coach Jackie Hall said. "We’re pleased with the win over Crest. We saw some great things in that match.I wish we could have finished better against Pleasanton. We just had some silly errors at the wrong time.”

Uniontown is 5-5 in league play and 8-16 overall.

Against Crest, Maddie Ard recorded 3 kills and 3 ace serves. Danielle Nading had 8 kills. Versus Pleasanton, which had just come off a three-set match with Crest, Ard had 7 kills and Nading finished with 6.

Uniontown’s varsity hosts its annual tournament Saturday. Play is set to begin at 8:30 a.m.

Northeast swept in league play

CHETOPA — Northeast volleyball was swept by Oswego and host Chetopa in Three Rivers League play here Tuesday. No details were provided.

The Vikings (2-5 TRL, 8-10 overall) play in the Uniontown Tournament on Saturday.
