Lois “Nell” Dikeman, 90, of Fort Scott, died Monday evening Aug. 7, 2017, at her home. She was born Jan. 9, 1927, in Nolanville, Texas, the daughter of Ira Earl Cross Sr. and Naoma (Lucas) Cross. She married Howard Julin Dikeman Sept. 1, 1945, in Temple, Texas. He preceded her in death Oct. 20, 2002.

Nell was a journalist for the Tribune Monitor for 50 years, and she was a member of the Church of Christ.

Nell is survived by her children; Linda Henderson and husband William of Buffalo, New York, Don Dikeman of Fort Scott; six grandchildren, Miles, Monica, Valerie, Jeremy, Joshua, and Kyle, and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband Howard, she was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ira Earl Cross, Jr., and Dr. James Cross; and a sister, Johnye Farr.

Rev. Jason Shackleford will conduct funeral services for Nell 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, 2017, at the Church of Christ with burial following at the Fort Scott National Cemetery, under the direction of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
