Emma Lou Pargen

Emma Lou Pargen, 75, formerly of Fort Scott, Kan., died Wednesday afternoon, June 28, 2017 at her home in Joplin, Mo. She was born Aug. 23, 1941, in Fort Scott, Kan., the daughter of Bill and Bernice (Emrick) Patterson. She married Donald Ray Pargen Aug. 11, 1961, in Fort Scott, Kan. He preceded her in death July 6, 2014.

Emma is survived by her son, Tyler Pargen and wife Missy, of Joplin, Mo.; and two granddaughters, Anna Elizabeth “Libby” Pargen, and Adison Winn, both of Joplin, Mo. In addition to her husband, Emma was also preceded in death by her parents.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at the U.S. National Cemetery under the direction of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Joplin Humane Society and may be left in the care of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 W. Wall Street, P.O.
