ONLINE FIRST: Both Tiger teams seeded fourth at Spring Hill

Monday, February 27, 2017

Both of Fort Scott High School's basketball teams face an uphill battle at the Spring Hill Class 4A-Division I Sub-State Tournament this coming weekend. Both teams are the No. 4 seed, meaning each one has to face the top seed in the first round.

Boys' tournament play begins Thursday night with the Tigers (5-15) facing the host school, Spring Hill (11-9) at 6 p.m. Even though Spring Hill is the host school, this game will be played first because Fort Scott is far enough away from the host site that even with a zero for the Broncos, the combined mileage is still greater than that of the second-game match-up between second-seeded Paola (9-11) and third-seeded Louisburg (8-12). That game will tip off at 7:30 p.m.

Girls' semifinals will be held on Friday with the Tigers (8-12) taking on top seed Paola (16-4) at 6 p.m. The second semifinal pits third-seeded Louisburg against second-seeded Spring Hill at 7:30. Both teams are 10-10.

The championship games will be played Saturday night at Spring Hill. The girls' game tips off at 6 p.m. Followed by the boys at 7:30.
