Carol Ann Newman

Carol Ann Newman, 61 of Moran passed away Feb. 21, 2017 at Olathe Medical Center.

She was born Oct. 5, 1955 in Kansas City, Mo., to Glenn and Florence (Runkle) Nichols. She lived in Kansas City until she was a teenager and was active in 4-H growing up. As a child, she showed cattle at the American Royal. She later moved with her family to Prescott, Kan., and attended school in Mound City. She married Dennis Newman on Jan. 24, 1973 in Moran. They lived in Rich Hill, Mo., for a time before settling back on the farm in Allen County. Carol later attended Neosho County Community College and received a degree in Computer Aided Drafting. She worked as a supervisor at Hi Lo Industries.

Carol enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, hunting and fishing with her husband, and attending Royals and Chiefs games.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis of the home; daughter Sue Tinkey and husband Mark of Grove, Okla.; son Brent Newman and wife Sheila of Moran; seven grandchildren; sisters Patty Norbury of Carthage, Mo., and Linda Taylor and husband Randy of Bixby, Okla., and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Carol lay in state Sunday, Feb. 26, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in Moran. The family greeted friends that evening from 5 until 7 p.m. Her funeral service was at 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 27 at Moran United Methodist Church. Burial followed in Moran Cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made to Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Tulsa, Okla.
