Brown Mackie rallies past Greyhounds

SALINA -- Dametrius Walker's 26 points on 11-of-18 field-goal shooting wasn't quite enough fort Fort Scott Community College's men here Saturday as the Greyhounds came on the short end of a Region VI-Division II shootout with Brown Mackie, 81-79.

The Lions (3-3 region, 12-11 overall), who are in their final season of play as the school will close in May, outscored the Greyhounds 54-42 in the second half.

Both teams shot well over 50 percent from the field. Fort Scott (3-3, 11-13) made 34 of 63 field-goal attempts for 54 percent while Brown Mackie shot 55 percent on 32 of 58.

Amariontez Ivory led Brown Mackie with 26 points followed by Ali Abdelrahim with 19 on 8-of-11 shooting.

Jayson Stepter added 12 points for Fort Scott while Tyler Zinn scored 11 and Brolon Moton finished with 10.

Walker also led the Greyhounds in assists and rebounds with 7 of each.

Fort Scott and Brown Mackie are now in a five-way tie for second in the region with Johnson County (17-7 overall), Highland (16-7) and Labette (11-12).

Fort Scott will face Johnson County at Arnold Arena at 4 p.m. Saturday in a game that counts in both Region VI and Jayhawk Conference-Division II play.
