Greyhound men go 1-1 at Southeast

BEATRICE, Neb. -- Fort Scott Community College's men split games at a classic hosted by Southeast Community College here over the weekend. The Greyhounds lost to Southeast, Neb., 68-63, on Friday before bouncing back for an 84-54 rout of the host team on Saturday.

Fort Scott improved to 7-9 overall with the win on Saturday, which was just its second win of the season over another Division II opponent in four tries.

Fort Scott led at the half of Friday's game but Southeast won the second half, 34-26. Dametrius Walker led Fort Scott with 23 points while Tyler Zinn added 19 on perfect 7-of-7 shooting from the field, which included five 3-point goals. However, no other Greyhound scored more than 7 points.

Saturday, Fort Scott shot 57 percent from the field, making 34 of 60 field-goal attempts while holding Central (10-5) to 40 percent on 19 of 47.

Walker scored 27 points on 10-of-13 shooting from the floor with a 7-for-7 night at the free-throw stripe. Zinn added 19 points while Anthony Cerda went 7-for-8 in scoring 14 points. Logan Miller chipped in with 10 points for the 'Hounds.

Fort Scott led comfortably at the half, 47-35, and then held Central to 19 second-half points. The 'Hounds forced 33 turnovers in the contest.

The Greyhounds will not play again for over a month before opening Jayhawk Conference-Division II play Saturday, Jan. 14 against Labette. Tip off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
