PLEASANTON -- Uniontown's volleyball team split its final two matches of the season in non-league competition here Tuesday night.

The Eagles (26-10) lost to Marmaton Valley in three sets, 25-21, 20-25, 25-16. Holly Shinn had 14 kills for Uniontown. Hannah Beerbower served 7 aces.

The Eagles then beat Pleasanton, 25-22, 25-19. Shinn served 10 aces and had 6 kills. Keely Goodridge had 8 kills.

"Disappointing that we couldn't finish the (Marmaton Valley) match, but we will take going 1-1," Uniontown head coach Jackie Hall said. "We struggled, again, with our communication and coverages and had several missed serves at the wrong time, although there is never a good time to miss a serve."

The Eagles will be playing in the Oswego Class 2A Sub-State today. Uniontown is the No. 2 seed and will begin the day with a match against No. 7 Howard-West Elk (7-25). Should the Eagles win, they will face the winner of the match between third-seeded Colgan (20-13) and No. 6 Pleasanton (12-22). Both of these matches will be played in Gym 2 with the Uniontown match stating at 2 p.m. The upper half of the bracket will be played in Gym 1 with top-seeded Oswego (32-5) facing No. 8 Yates Center (4-29) at 2 p.m. and No. 4 Marmarton Valley (17-17) taking on No. 5 Sedan (14-19) immediately following.

Each semifinal takes place in the same gym as the first-round matches in each half of the bracket. The championship match will be held in Gym 1.
