Tigers take two at Parsons
PARSONS -- Fort Scott High's volleyball team swept Parsons and Coffeyville in Southeast Kansas League play here Tuesday, winning back-to-back matches for the first time since the mid-September.
The Tigers defeated the host school 25-12, 25-15. Kharsyn Dwyer had 7 kills and 3 blocks in the match. Maddie Farmer led the offense with 12 kills and Karlee Stanley had 20 assists and 9 digs.
Fort Scott swept Coffeyville, 25-13, 25-12. Dwyer had 9 kills in the match. Stanley handed out 21 assists and Joce Allen came up with 9 digs.
Fort Scott improved to 5-5 in the SEK and 10-19 overall. Prior to Tuesday, the Tigers had lost 11 of their previous 12 matches. Parsons fell to 2-8, 9-10, two matches ahead of last-place Coffeyville (0-10).
The Tigers will play their regular-season finale Monday at Labette County with Independenence also a part of the SEK triangular. This is a change on the schedule as the matches were originally scheduled for Tuesday. Play will begin at 5 p.m.
