Unranked Highland sweeps No. 14 'Hounds

HIGHLAND -- Unranked Highland swept No. 14-ranked Fort Scott Community College here Wednesday night in a Jayhawk Conference-Division II volleyball dual.

The Scotties (4-2 conference, 13-5 overall) have won seven of their last eight matches with the only loss in that stretch coming to No. 10 Coffeyville. Fort Scott (3-2, 15-4) lost for the second straight time, also falling at home last week to Neosho County in five sets.

Megan Turner had 11 kills and 15 digs for Fort Scott, which had just 28 as a team in the match and had a kill percentage of less than .100. Mickey Trimble handed out 26 assists. Katie Gorman had 14 digs.

The Greyhounds will play in the Neosho County Invitational at Chanute this weekend. Today, they face McCook, Neb., at 1 p.m. and Coffeyville at 5 p.m. Fort Scott handed the Ravens their only loss of the season in a conference dual on Aug. 31.

Saturday, the 'Hounds will play Southeast, Neb., at 9 a.m. and the Ottawa University JV at 1 p.m.
