No. 2 doubles team first at Chanute
CHANUTE -- Fort Scott High's No. 2 doubles team placed first in the final junior varsity tennis of the season at Chanute here Monday.
Aubry Terry and Patience Richwine won all three of their matches. They defeated Carmen Kent/Rylee Johnson of Pittsburg, 6-4, in the first round. They beat Selena Stich/Hannah Hugo of Chanute, 6-3, in the second round. In the finals, they won easily over Pittsburg's Megan Noe/Maddie Maple, 6-1, in the final.
Britni Addington and Rebekay Sweyko were fifth in No. 1 doubles. They lost in the first round to Allie and Aubrey Hicks of Chanute, 6-2. They defeated Sophie Osborn/Lily Folk of Chanute in the consolation semifinals and Ralee Moore/Lauren Baldwin of Labette County in the fifth-place match by identical 6-1 scores.
Alexis Bailey was fifth in No. 2 singles. She lost in the first round to Libby Vogel of Pittsburg by a 6-1 score. In the consolation semifinal, she beat Labette County's Athena Buck in a tie-breaker, 6-5 (7-2).
Kendall Madison was seventh in No. 1 singles. She lost to Shayla Boyle of Chanute Gold, 6-3, and Allie Utley of Iola in a tie-breaker, 6-5 (7-3). She defeated Caylee Jones of Iola in the seventh-place match, 6-1.
