Brooks 10th at Rim Rock Farm

JEFFERSON COUNTY -- Fort Scott High School's Devin Brooks finished in 10th place in the Varsity Blue Division here Saturday as he and Gavin Smith participated in an annual meet hosted by the University of Kansas.

Brooks turned in a time of 17:27.00 on the same course KU races on and which the Kansas State Championships are held for Classes 6A, 5A and 3A. Smith finished with a time of 19:01.10, which put him in 72nd place. There were 304 competitors in this division alone.

Lakelin Conrad of Wichita Collegiate, who finished third in Class 4A last year, was the winner in 16:20.40.

The entire Fort Scott team will participate in the Pittsburg Invitational on Thursday with the first race scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
