Charla Ann "Char" Cambers (Gier)

Charla Ann "Char" Cambers (Gier), 60 years of age, passed away on July 18,

2016. She was born June 3, 1956 in Fort Scott, Kan., to Charles and Geneva Gier. As a young girl she attended Hepler and Uniontown schools. She had resided in the Girard area for the last 40 years, where she had made many friends. She dearly loved being with her friends and family. She will forever be in our hearts. She worked at International Paper and Southern Bag as Human Resources until they closed and then worked at Manpower helping people with job placement. She loved interior design and was a talented artist.

Survivors include her mother, Geneva Gier, Girard, Kan.; a daughter Mckenzie Widner and granddaughter, Phoenix Rose, Lawrence, Kan.; two sisters, Linda Murdock (Jim), Girard, Kan., Trudy Stultz (Gerald), Garden City, Mo.; two brothers, Gary Gier (Leana), Hepler, Kan., Roger Gier (Linda), Uniontown, Kan.; six nieces, Jeri Stultz, Garden City, Mo., Melissa Fiscor (Steve), Jacksonville, Fla., Stephanie Weaver (Jason), Joplin, Mo., Tina Peak (Josh), Girard, Kan., Tanya Brokob (Matt), Girard, Kan., Tosha Carson (Grant), Girard, Kan.; two nephews, Nate Murdock, Prairie Village, Kan., Joshua Gier (Jamie), Uniontown, Kan.; numerous great nieces and nephews; longtime friend Mark Kennedy, and Dominic Esposito, her companion that survives at the home.

Char chose cremation and celebration of her life. On Aug. 6 the family will receive friends at Tanya and Matt Brokob's home, 187 East 610th Ave, Girard, Kan., from 2:30 to 3:30. We will have a separate celebration of her life for friends starting at 8 in the evening at Mark Kennedy's home, 155 West 590th Ave, Girard, Kan. We will launch paper lanterns with your loving thoughts written on them. Please bring your own refreshments and lawn chairs. Char had started an education fund for her granddaughter, Phoenix.
