Sandra E. Duren
Sandra E. Duren, age 56, resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died Friday, June 17, 2016, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Mo. She was born Jan. 1, 1960, in Fort Scott, Kan., the daughter of Charles and Goldie Bright DeMott. She married Billy R. Duren on March 7, 1991. They later divorced. Jeff Chaplin was her significant other for the past 16 years. She worked for Tri-Valley Development Center for 10 years. She also worked for Walmart. Sandra liked making quilts and afghans for loved ones. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Lake Tahoe, stock car races, riding motorcycles, fishing, and collecting Barbies and unique shoes. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a very loving, caring person, always putting others before herself.
Survivors include her daughter, Sabrina Robinson and husband Ryan, Fort Scott; son Damon Duren and wife Tricia, Fort Scott; her mother, Goldie Schnichels, Fort Scott; five grandchildren, Aiden, Leilan, Isaac, Benjamin, and Jordan; and cousins, David and Francis DeMott. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Hunter Lyon; her father Charles DeMott; and step-father, David Schnichels.
Rev. Kevin Moyers will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 23, at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 Wednesday evening at the Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Sandra Duren Memorial Fund and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, P.O.
