Leslie Waldo Haines, Sr., 82, of Milo, Mo., died Saturday afternoon, June 4, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Fort Scott, Kan. He was born Dec. 18, 1933 in Wichita, Kan., the son of Harry Waldo and Vera Isabelle (Woodman) Haines. He married Betty Jane Smith July 5, 1953 in Wichita, Kan., and she survives of the home.

In addition to his wife Betty, Leslie is survived by his children, Tiena Jean Parsons and husband Jim, of Andover, Kan., Doni Marie Thompson and husband Mark, of Ely, Iowa, Leslie W. Haines, Jr., of Wichita, Kan., Terry Ann Smith and husband Kevin, also of Wichita, Kan., Bradley Alan Haines and wife Becca, of Valley Center, Kan.; 12 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Anna Marie Jones.

Following cremation, memorial services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, June 18, 2016, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Valley Center, Kan. The family requests that memorials be made to the Cancer Care Unit of Hope at Mercy Hospital, Fort Scott, Kan. Local services are under the direction of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 W.
