Tigers earn 18 medals at Chanute

CHANUTE -- Fort Scott High School athletes earned a total of 18 medals at the Thad Clements Invitational here Friday.

Tiger boys earned nine medals, which included a pair of seconds. Nick Woods was second in discus with a throw of 146 feet, 8 inches. Josh Hudiburg was sixth with a mark of 122' 6". Dylan Untereker of Pittsburg won the event at 153' 2".

Hudiburg placed second in javelin with a mark of 177' 5 1/2" and Morgan Stoughton was fourth at 149' 8". Isaac Ostrosky of Fredonia was the winner with an effort of 189' 9".

Vince Tome finished third in the 400-meter dash in 51.84, fourth in the 200 in 23.47 and fifth in the 100 in 11.03.

Austin Cook placed fifth in shot put with a mark of 41' 11 3/4". And the 4x100-meter relay team was sixth in 46.09 seconds.

The girls also won nine medals. Mallory Westhoff finished second in the 1,600-meter run 6:13.64 while Emma Davis was fourth in 6:26.90.

Westhoff finished third in the 3,200 in 14:06.03 while Davis placed fourth in 14:06.57.

The Tigers' 4x800-meter relay finished third in 11:06.44. Abby Humble was fifth in shot at 32' 5". Kelsey Carpeter was fifth in pole vault, clearing 5' 6" while Morgan Rohr also made 5' 6" but in more attempts to finish sixth. Finally, Grace Willis was sixth in the 800 meters in 2:36.27.

Fort Scott competes in the Southeast Kansas League Relays Friday at Pittsburg.
