Tiger softball extends winning streak to 11
COFFEYVILLE --Fort Scott High School's softball team extended its winning streak to 11 games Monday, taking a pair of wins over Coffeyville in Southeast Kansas League play.
The Tigers (8-0 SEK, 13-1 overall) won the opener, 15-7, and dominated the nightcap, 12-0 in five innings.
Kyley Brown (2-0) allowed 3 earned runs on 8 hits in five innings of relief in game one. She didn't walk anyone and struck out 8 batters.
Lane Bohlken went 3 for 5 at the plate for the Tigers. Katie Gorman was 2 for 4 and Karlee Stanley was 2 for 4. Taylor Krokroskia drove in 2 runs.
Fort Scott scored 8 runs in the top of the first inning and led 12-3 after two.
The Tigers scored 4 runs in the top of the first inning in the second game and held an 8-0 lead after three. They scored their final 4 runs in the top of the fourth.
Hannah Geneva (2-0) held Coffeyville (0-10, 2-11) to one hit. She didn't walk anyone and struck out 12.
Bohlken was 4 for 4 in game two and drove in 3 runs. Abby Denton went 3 for 4 with 3 runs batted in. Krokroskia was also 3 for 4 while Gorman and Bailie Brown were each 2 for 3.
Coffeyville won its first two games of the season but has lost each time since.
The Tigers will play at Paola Thursday.
