Fort Scott Community College's softball team will be looking to salvage the last two games of a homestand when Allen visits the Betty Ruth Willard Complex for a 2 p.m. Jayhawk Conference doubleheader today.

The Greyhounds have dropped the first four games of the homestand, getting swept by Independence Friday and, most recently, by Cowley on Saturday by scores of 3-1 and 9-3.

Fort Scott's only score in the opener came in the bottom of the fourth inning. Trailing 2-0, Chelsea Snyder cut the deficit in half with an RBI groundout that scored K.C. Beardsley, who had singled to right leading off the inning.

Beardsley was the only Greyhound with 2 hits in the game.

The second game was tied 1-1 after one inning but Cowley scored 2 in the top of the second and a total of 7 between the second and fourth to go up 8-1.

None of the Greyhounds had more than one hit in the game.

Fort Scott fell to 3-9 in KJCCC-Division II and 16-19 overall. The 'Hounds are in 11th place in the division. Neosho County (3-8, 8-22) is a half-game ahead in 10th while Coffeyville (2-10, 9-35) is a game behind in last place.

Post-season tournament seeding is based on record within the region, which includes all conference games as well as doubleheaders versus Hesston and Brown Mackie. Fort Scott (3-9 in the region as well) is a game ahead of Hesston (3-11, 12-19) in the region in 12th position. Brown Mackie is in last place (14th) at 0-16, 3-28.

The 'Hounds will play at Brown Mackie on Friday, then go to Cloud County (4-10 division, 4-10 region, 7-13 overall) on Saturday looking to improve their playoff positioning.
