Wade Vernon Harriger

Wade Vernon Harriger, age 59, resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died Monday, March 7, 2016, at Mercy Hospital of Fort Scott. He was born on Feb. 23, 1957, in Pawhuska, Okla., the son of Frank and Lois Wadsworth Harriger. He graduated from Pawhuska High School. He then served for six years in the U.S. Navy. Wade worked construction in Oklahoma before working in maintenance positions including the Catholic Charities in Wichita, Kan. He suffered a car wreck in 2005 which later resulted in his disability. He enjoyed fishing and making jewelry for sale at flea markets. He was a member of the St. John's Catholic Church in Iola, Kan.

Survivors include his wife Lisa; seven children, April Harriger, Agusta, Kan., Cory Harriger, Wichita, Kan., Michael, Christine, Mary, Elizabeth, and Anthony Harriger, all of Fort Scott; one sister, Alene Madl and husband Roger, Savonburg, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Reola Ripple; a nephew, Steven Ripple; and his parents.

Father Robert Wachter will conduct the Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, at Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the U.S. National Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Olson Frary Burkhart Post No. 1165 V.F.W. Memorials are suggested to the Wade Harriger Memorial Fund and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, P.O.
