Flora Rosella Smith
Flora Rosella Smith, age 98, a resident of Lamar, Mo., died early Friday, Feb. 19, 2016, at the Truman Health and Rehab Center in Lamar. She was born Sept. 9, 1917, in Bourbon County, Kan., the daughter of George C. Reno and Grace Koontz Reno. She married Clark Henry Smith on Jan. 28, 1938, in Nevada, Mo. He preceded her in death on June 30, 2002. Flora enjoyed singing, playing the guitar and the harmonica as well as sewing and working with her flowers. She also liked to travel, especially taking trips to Branson. In earlier years, attended the Grace Baptist Tabernacle in Fort Scott.
Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Wright Russell and husband, Gerald and Louise Mix all of Fort Scott, Kan.; two sons, Richard Smith, of Pittsburg, Kan., and Larry Smith and wife, Barbara, of Lamar. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and several great and great-great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Melvin and Harold Smith; two brothers and two sisters.
Pastor Sandy Stallings will conduct funeral services at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23 at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery.
