Linda Ann McBride

Linda Ann McBride, 64, of Fort Scott, passed away at Mercy Hospital Tuesday morning, Feb. 16, 2016. She was born Feb. 21, 1951 in Fort Scott, Kan., the daughter of James Lloyd and Beulah Marie (Ballou) Large. She married Robert Dean McBride Aug. 22, 1969 in Devon, Kan., and he survives of the home.

Linda was a department manager for Walmart and worked there for over 25 years. She was a member of the Devon United Methodist Church, Past Worthy Matron of Devon Eastern Star, and also the Prescott Ladies Birthday and Bunco Bunch. Linda enjoyed camping, horseback riding, her dogs, birds, and gardening, and had great joy over her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband Robert, Linda is survived by three daughters, Jimmie Hughes and her husband Rod of Hume, Mo., Bridget Wright and husband John of Stockton, Mo., and Tina Jones and husband Rick of Nevada, Mo.; a son, David McBride, of Fort Scott, Kan.; two sisters, Shirley Hixon and husband Bob of Redfield, Kan., and Betty Graham and husband Terry of Devon, Kan.; nine grandchildren, Tiffany Ogle, Caleb Franklin, Cody Franklin, Jessica Jones, Megan Demster, Zach Simhiser, Dalton Jones, Charlie Wright, and Hannah Hughes; and two great-grandchildren, Colton and Chesney Ogle. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her first husband Jimmy Luther who died in February of 1967.

Rev. Don Flanner will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016 at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Friday evening Feb. 19, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A private family interment will take place at a later date in the Centerville Cemetery.
