COFFEYVILLE -- Fort Scott High School's freshman girls avenged an earlier loss to Coffeyville, prevailing on the road 32-21 Friday night in what Tiger Coach Kori Dodson called "a very rough game."

Fort Scott started strongly, racing out to an 11-2 lead at the end of the first quarter. While the pace slowed in the second period, Fort Scott led 15-7 at halftime. The margin was double digits after three at 24-14.

Madie Farmer led the winners with 8 points. Jocie Allen and Ciara Stumfoll followed with 7 each.

Fort Scott finished 14 of 29 at the charity stripe.

"We played good, solid defense without fouling them," said Dodson. "I was very proud of the girls and how they handled themselves in a game that could have gotten out of hand. They kept their cool and played defense the way it is supposed to be played."

The victory upped the Tigers' record to 9-3 heading into tonight's home game versus Independence.
