Leon Richard "Lonnie" Cleaver
Leon Richard "Lonnie" Cleaver, 89 of Rural Fort Scott, died Thursday evening, Oct. 1, 2015 at the Guest Home Estates. He was born March 7, 1926 in Fort Scott, Kan., the son of August M. and Ruth Jane (Flora) Cleaver.
Lonnie was a farmer and except for the few years he lived in Nevada, Mo., he was a lifelong resident of the Fort Scott area. He served in Korea as a corporal in the U.S. Army from 1950 until 1952, and was a member of the VFW, and Grace Baptist Tabernacle.
Survivors include two nephews, David Creamer and wife Pat, and Clovis Creamer and wife Sharon, both of Elma, Wash.; two first cousins, Patricia McBride and husband Gordon of Independence, Kan., and June Ochsner and husband Bruce of Wichita, Kan.; several second cousins, and a host of friends. Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Geraldine Creamer, and a nephew, Gerald Creamer.
Rev. Paul Rooks will conduct funeral services 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015 at the Grace Baptist Tabernacle with the visitation beginning at 1 p.m. prior to services. Burial will follow at the Memory Gardens of Bourbon County cemetery under the direction of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. Military Honors at the cemetery will be conducted by the Olson-Frary-Burkhart Post No. 1165 Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Detail.Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Baptist Tabernacle and left in the care of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 W.
