Charles Edmond "Ed" Murray
Charles Edmond "Ed" Murray, 60, Nevada, Mo., departed this life on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015 in St. Louis, Mo. Ed was born Oct. 12, 1954 in Fort Scott, Kan., to Charles Leroy and Shirley Gene (Barbour) Murray. On Nov. 21, 1978 he was united in marriage to Rebecca Casselman in Manti, Utah, and she survives of the home.
Ed was raised in Richards, Mo., and attended school there until it closed. At that time he transferred to Nevada where he graduated from Nevada High School with the Class of 1972. He then attended college for four years at Southwest Missouri State in Springfield, Mo. Ed was employed by APAC Kansas Asphalt Company (formerly RENO Construction) for 42 years until his retirement in 2013. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Nevada where he was serving as bishop. Ed enjoyed being outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, farming, and promoting wildlife. He also loved spending time with his family and wanted to be a strong example to his children and grandchildren. He was devoted to family, friends and church.
In addition to his wife Bekki, survivors include his children, Elizabeth Murray, Carthage, Mo., Randy Murray and his wife Tanya, Bella Vista, Ark., Matthew Murray and his wife Victoria, Carthage, Mo., and Sarah Moser and her husband Robert, Joplin, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Charlie, Gus, Ila, Hank, Isabelle, Olivia, Greta, Quinn, and Leah; one sister, MaryAnna Blake and her husband Doc, Richards, Mo.; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and extended family.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Nevada. Interment will follow in Richland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
