Pittsburg rolls, 10-0
With 13 freshmen and sophomores on a 21-player roster, it was known before the season began that Fort Scott High School's soccer team wasn't going to have things come easily.
For the second consecutive day, a Tiger game was "run ruled" -- stopped when the margin reached 10 goals -- as Pittsburg took a 10-0 win in Southeast Kansas League play at Ellis Park.
The Tigers are 0-4 in the SEK and 1-8 overall, which also includes Monday's 10-0 loss at Spring Hill. Fort Scott has been outscored 70-5 this season, with four of their goals coming in their only victory, over Riverton on Sept. 15.
Frander Marroquin scored four goals for league-leading Pittsburg (3-0, 6-1). Brother Jazon Marroquin added 3 goals and Jaime Maldonado added two.
The Tigers will play at Independence Thursday afternoon at 4:30.
