Susan Jane Todd
Susan Jane Todd, 67, of Tulsa, Okla., passed away unexpectedly with her children by her side on Aug. 14, 2015 at Hillcrest Hospital South in Tulsa, Okla., due to sepsis and complications of pneumonia.
Susan was born Sept. 18, 1947 in Fort Scott, Kan., to Jack Todd and Cleta (Cowan) Todd.
Susan ("Mimi" as she was known by her grandchildren) had an amazing sense of humor. She was a woman of strength and honor. Though she faced many challenges in her life, she always embraced them with immense grace and fortitude and tried to look for the sunshine after each storm. Susan had an unshakable faith in God and an incredible passion for life. Her personality was friendly and warm and if you had the privilege of meeting her, you would soon become her friend. She was an amazing storyteller and could talk about most anything for many hours.
Susan lived and made friends and connections in many areas during her life including Fort Scott, Kan.; northwest Arkansas; Denver, Colo.; and the Tulsa, Okla., area.
Susan worked hard her entire life. She did many things to earn a living to support her children. Most notably was her extensive career of hanging wallpaper and then later on (as many her age were retiring) Susan became a general contractor and home remodeling specialist. She was extremely creative and had an intuitive knowledge of home building and remodeling. She was skilled at both the business part as well as the actual work itself involved in building and remodeling. If Susan was working on a project, you knew it was going to be done correctly. She was widely considered one of the finest homebuilders in the Tulsa area.
Her parents preceded Susan in death. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Rusty and Julie Alexander of Rogers, Ark.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Alison and Chris Lawler of Tulsa, Okla., and Brooke and Brian Sconyers of Jenks, Okla.; a brother, Mike Todd of Mountain Home, Ark., nine grandchildren; many cousins; and friends too numerous to mention.
Susan was cremated. Her ashes were scattered by her children and grandchildren on a farm she owned and loved near Bentonville, Ark. The remaining ashes were scattered in Grove, Okla., honoring her dream of retiring there.
Susan's children will hold a celebration of life on Saturday, Aug. 29 at 2 p.m. at 29020 S. Highway 125 Monkey Island, OK 74331. All friends and relatives are invited to attend.
