Lois Ann Carney
Lois Ann Carney, age 59, Pleasanton, Kan., formerly of Mound City, Kan., passed away Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015 at Mercy Hospital Fort Scott. She was born at Paola, Kan., on Jan. 13, 1956 the daughter of Alva "Shorty" and Marilyn Frank Poole. She graduated from Jayhawk-Linn High School in the Class of 1974. She then attended Fort Scott Community College. She married Dave Carney on July 10, 1977 at Pleasanton, Kan. Lois was employed as a schoolteacher at Miami County R1, and later at the Co-Op. In most recent years, she was able to work as a homemaker. She was a member of the Mound City First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Alva "Shorty" Poole and a brother, Alvie Poole. Lois is survived by her husband, Dave, two sons, Joe Carney and wife Erica and Justin Carney and wife Molly, four grandchildren: Caedmon, Charlotte, Caroline and Clair Carney, and a sister Lisa Johnson.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015 at the Mound City First Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church. The family suggests contributions to Linn County Sharing Bucket.
