Uniontown softball falls in final
ROSALIA -- Uniontown's softball team found itself in the Tuesday's championship game of the Rosalia-Flinthills Class 2-1A Regional Softball Tournament after beating the host school in Monday's semifinal, 14-13.
"We had a couple of bad innings, but pulled it together in the last inning," Eagle head coach Paula Coyan said. "It was a good win for us and gave the girls a boost of confidence."
Tyeesha Perry and Daryan Herring had 3 hits each for Uniontown while Breanna Hampton had 2.
Keely Goodridge also had 3 hits as she supported her own cause inside the pitching circle. She allowed 8 hits and 10 walks while striking out 8.
In Monday's opener, fourth-seeded Marmaton Valley routed winless Altoona-Midway, 16-1. The Uniontown-Flinthills game followed. Then Yates Center (15-4) eliminated Marmaton Valley, 10-0, to gain the other spot in Tuesday's final.
The Wildcats went on to shut out Uniontown in Tuesday's final, 10-0, bringing Uniontown's season to an end with a record of 8-14.
