St. Paul sweeps Uniontown in league make-ups

UNIONTOWN -- St. Paul swept Uniontown here Monday, 12-9 and 13-0, in a Three Rivers League make-up doubleheader. The second game ended after five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Uniontown (1-7 TRL, 3-13 overall) led after the first inning of the opener, 2-1. J.P. Pearson led off the inning with a single and Jesse Kuns was hit by pitch. Broderick Glessner's 2-out single scored both runners.

St. Paul took the lead for good with 3 runs in the top of the second and added 5 more in the fourth to make it 9-2. The Eagles scored in every inning afterward but could never catch up.

Glessner had 3 hits for the Eagles while Pearson and Colby Seested each had 2.

St. Paul scored in every inning played in the second game, going up 4-0 after one. Glessner and Clay Robinson had the Eagles' only hits.

Thursday, the Eagles will take on Humboldt, ranked No. 6 in Class 3A in the latest Kansas Baseball Coaches Association poll, in a non-league doubleheader. Play begins at 3:30.
