GIRARD -- Four of the state's top female distance runners competed in the Girard Optomist Club Invitataional here Friday.

Fort Scott High's Cassidy Westhoff competed in the 1,600 and 3,200 meters along with Northeast's Kaylee Bogina, St. Paul's Jenny O'Bryan and Girard's Kendall Logue. Among them, they have won 10 state cross-country medals, including five state championships, and five state track championships.

Logue, the current Class 4A State cross-country and defending Class 4A 3,200 champ, was able to win both events on her home track. She ran the 1,600 meters in a time of 5:02.21 followed by Bogina, current 3A State cross-country, 1,600 and 3,200 champion, in 5:07.44, Westhoff in 5:08.60, and O'Bryan, current 1A State cross-country and 3.200 champ, in 5:25.71.

Logue has the best time in the state -- all classes -- this season of 4:59.9. Bogina's time maintains her position as the best in 3A and moves her up to second in the state.

Westhoff's time is a school record, the second-best in Class 4A behind Logue and third-best overall.

Logue also took the 3,200 meters with a time of 11:09.21. Bogina was second in 11:14.39 with O'Bryan third in 11:20.15 and Westhoff fourth in 11:25.62. They were the only four runners who clocked in with a time under 12 minutes.

Logue's time puts her on the 3,200-meter board for the third time this season. She takes over the top spot in Class 4A and is fifth in the state with the time she turned in.

Bogina already had the best time in the state this season, an 11:03.01. O'Bryan shaved 7 seconds off her previous-best time, increased her lead in Class 1A and moved up to eighth in the state.

Westhoff moved down in 4A when Louge passed her and former leader Millares of Wichita Trinity. But overall, the 11:25 improved her position on the state list three spots to 13th.

Fort Scott's distaff athletes won three other medals. Grace Willis finished in third place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:36.66. McKenzie Willis of Pittsburg was the winner in 2:26.15.
