Hazel Hencey Crawford, a longtime resident of Redfield, Kan., died early Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at the Fort Scott Manor in Fort Scott, Kan. She was born in Cross Timbers, Mo., the daughter of Arthur R. Bybee and Julia L. Hall Bybee. Hazel first married Jack Hencey on Aug. 15, 1937, at Nevada, Mo. He preceded her in death on Oct. 13, 1988. She later married Emmitte Crawford on Nov. 18, 1993. He passed away on May 10, 1996. Hazel had worked as a machine operator for Key Work Clothes for 49 years. She was a member of the Redfield United Methodist Church and in her earlier years had been a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed working in her yard and tending her flowerbeds.

Survivors include her son, Gary Hencey, of Redfield and a son-in-law, Glen Mahler, of Colorado Springs, Colo., as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Deeanna Mahler; seven brothers, Hadley, Jim, Clifford, Edgar, Everett, Hubert and Cecil Bybee; and two sisters, Eva Driskett and Evelyn Bybee.

Pastor Jeff Feagins will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 26 at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Following cremation, private burial will take place in the Mt. Orum Cemetery south of Redfield. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time at the chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Shrine Transportation Fund and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S.
