Betty Jean Austin,
Betty Jean Austin, age 75, a resident of Fort Scott, Kan., passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born Aug. 15, 1939, on south Cedar Street in Nevada, Mo., the daughter of Guy Townley and Margaret Baldwin Townley. She married Jimmy (Dale) Austin on Aug. 2, 1959, in Fort Scott; they had two daughters. Betty worked for twenty-six years as a CNA at Fort Scott Mercy Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, Dale, of the home; a daughter, Tammy (Winter) Heimsoth and husband, Kirby, of Fort Scott; granddaughter, Amber Mason and great-grandchildren Jaydon and Zac Davis, of Great Bend, Kan.; and granddaughter, Casey Winter-Fogle and husband, John Fogle and great-grandson, Michael Fogle of Richards, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Janet Mason.
Rev. Paul Rooks will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 7 at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the Cheney Witt Chapel 201 S. Main, Ft. Scott.
