Gulager earns chance to win $1M

FORT WORTH, Texas -- A Fort Scott cowboy on Sunday earned his chance to win $1 million March 1 during The American rodeo finals to be held March 1 in Arlington, Texas.

Stewart Gulager placed first and won $25,000 in the steer wrestling shoot out round during The American Semi Finals on Sunday with a score of 4.20 seconds.

Gulager is a former Fort Scott Community College rodeo team member.

He was among the nearly 40 rising stars, retired veterans and weekend warriors who finished on top in their respective events during The American Semi-Finals, held Feb. 18-22 here.

The field of 631 entries was whittled to just 86 on Sunday for the final heat, according to an RFD-TV press release.
