Dee Burnam

Dee Burnam, age 90, a resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died Monday, Feb. 16, 2015, at Guest Home Estates in Fort Scott. She was born Sept. 17, 1924, near Hiattville, Kan., the daughter of Joseph A. McCracken and Nellie Peelle McCracken. Dee graduated from the Girard High School in 1942. She later married Lester Burnam. He preceded her in death. Dee had been employed by Marsh & McLennan Insurance Company in Wichita for many years.
Survivors include three step-sons; Curtis Burnam and Lynn Burnam, both of Wichita, Kan., and Glenn Burnam, of Kansas City, Mo., and a step-daughter, Linda Gallenberger, of Salt Lake City, Utah. Also surviving is a brother, Ed McCracken of Fort Scott, six step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Ester Fisher, Ruby Niemeir, Ruth McCarty, O'Ella Ross and Kay Davis and three brothers, Howard, Dewey and Don McCracken.
There was cremation. A memorial service with burial in the Hiattville Cemetery will take place at a later date. Services are under the direction of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, Fort Scott.
