Margaret A. Travis
Margaret A. Travis, age 99, resident of Fort Scott, Kan., went to meet her Lord and Savior on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015, at Medicalodges of Fort Scott. She was born Nov. 29, 1915, in Arma, Kan., the daughter of Jess and Ethel Siple Swartz. She married Roy Travis in 1938. He preceded her in death on May 27, 1992. Margaret worked for Dickerson's Drapery shop in Fort Scott. She then worked in the coding department for Western Insurance Company. Later she worked as a nurse's aide at Mercy Hospital and did special sittings for families at Mercy and area nursing homes. Her life was a devotion to her church and family. She enjoyed cooking for all the family gatherings, with her specialty being chicken and noodles. She was a member of the Parkway Church of God (Holiness).
Survivors include her daughter, Chelsa Dauben and husband Verdon, Fort Scott; two grandchildren, Joe Dauben and wife Angie, Texas, and Joyce Larsen and husband Steve, Springfield, Mo.; six great-grandchildren, Arlie Diederich and husband Ryan, Jarett Dauben and wife Whitney, Ty Marie Larsen, Travis Larsen, Ben Gettler, and Dakotah Gettler; and three great-great-grandchildren, Augustus Diederich, Patton Diederich, and Colt Roy Dauben. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, ImoGene DoLance and her parents.
Pastor Mark Stetler will conduct graveside services at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, at Evergreen Cemetery. The family suggests donations to Fort Scott Christian Heights in lieu of flowers.
